4 Easy Dietary Changes to Improve Your Health

What usually happens when you change too many things at once? You quit because it's too hard and too much!

 

We are here to say it doesn't have to be! Check out these four small changes you can make to your daily diet to start improving your health TODAY:

 

1. Ditch the vegetable oils: margarine, vegetable shortening, ready use dough, fried foods, coffee creamers and packaged snacks are the worst culprits for hydrogenated oils. We recommend using heart healthy vegetable or plant oils when you cook or bake such as extra virgin olive oil, avocado oil. We also recommend baking or boiling when cooking instead of frying to save on the bad fats.

 

2. Eat fat for breakfast: eating fats for breakfast will help you stay fuller longer throughout the day. Try avocado, nut butters, eggs or whole milk greek yogurt.

 

3. Avoid drinking sugar: it's very easy to consume excess calories from sugary drinks such as soda, sugary coffee drinks, sports drinks, and juices. Avoiding these types of beverages can provide enormous health benefits. Stick to black coffee, green tea and water. 

 

4. Eat from your neighbourhood: sourcing your food locally not only supports local businesses it gives you fresh, healthy options for your meal planning. Check out your local farmers market this summer for the best vegetables, meats, and locally made products.
