Seed Cycling : Hormonal Balance

Being as healthy as I can be has always been important to me! Being on birth control for the last 15 years has got me wondering what it was doing to my body and I am a little scared it's going to be detrimental in the long run. My doctor tells me it's ok to be on birth control for a long time but I'm just not so sure. So, I decided to stop taking birth control and put my hormones and cycle under my control!

I will be spending the next couple of weeks taking this seriously and documenting my journey with seed cycling. Like I mention in the video, I am by no means an expert on this and I do not know how I am supposed to 'feel' while cycling but I thought it was time your average everyday women took some time to test this out and share with you how it changes my PMS symptoms. I want the best for my body and so should you!

Here is a little bit more about the actual process of taking the seeds and when you are supposed to take them from The Herbal Academy:

The seeds are rotated based on the follicular and luteal phases. The follicular phase of your cycle starts with “Day 1,” which is the first day of your menstrual cycle and the day that you begin to bleed. The luteal phase begins with ovulation and extends to menses. For some women, ovulation falls on or around day 14 or 15, but many women ovulate much sooner or much later. In addition, some women experience shorter or longer cycles than the “ideal” 28-day cycle, so it’s important to know your body’s rhythms and read its signs.

Follicular Phase: Day 1 to Day 14, or until ovulation:

1 tablespoon each freshly ground raw flax seeds and pumpkin seeds daily.

Luteal Phase: From Day 15 (about) to 28, or until menses:

1 tablespoon each freshly ground raw sunflower and sesame seeds daily.

*Note that this is good for women who have their menses and for women we are experiencing menopause. Women on their menses follow their cycle according to the calendar and women who are in menopause do not have to follow a particular calendar as their cycle has ended they just cycle seeds every couple of weeks (i.e. 14 days of ground flax and pumpkin seeds and then 14 days of sesame and sunflower).

I am excited to give this a try and share it with you! If you have any questions please let me know in the comments and I will do my best to answer them!
